We designed, constructed, and tested the Switchblade for the film “Die Another Day” and coordinated the skydive into Buckingham Palace with a Union Flag parachute.
I was the only individual to fly the Switchblade in a real-world scenario, which was regrettable, as we had intended to execute the complete sequence authentically.
Regrettably, the publicity we garnered on-site prior to filming prompted the production team to opt for completing this sequence using Visual Effects.
Nevertheless, the opportunity to jump into Buckingham Palace with a Union Flag parachute compensated for this setback.
We crafted the Switchblade for operational use, developing the Jet Ice car drag parachute and the cutaway system intended for parachute release upon landing at Buckingham Palace.
